History of SCHNEIDER Elektronik GmbH

SCHNEIDER Elektronik GmbH has been established on the market for over 60 years.

For more than 25 years we have been successfully producing and developing products for clean and safe air in the field of laboratory ventilation technology to the highest technological standards.

However, our company founder Hans Schneider already started the history in the 1940s in the field of sound technology.

2023

Bernd Drost, Managing Director, hands over the company management at the beginning of the year.

Andreas Nagel (Sales Manager National), Jan Keßler (Head of Software Development) and Thorsten Maar (Technical Operations Manager) will form the new top management at SCHNEIDER Elektronik from 01.01.2023.

2021

The SCHAKO Group continues to grow: SCHAKO has acquired the two Dutch companies Smitsair B.V. and Smitsair JETsystemen B.V..

Both Smitsair companies are market leaders in their fields. They are specialized in the development and manufacture of passive, visible ventilation components, ventilation ducts and special sheets for a wide range of ventilation and distribution systems.

2020

A new SMD pick-and-place machine with a much higher throughput than the existing ones is purchased, plus loaders and unloaders for both the SMD pick-and-place machine and the soldering oven. Both enable more efficient production. Two new SMD towers, which optimise the storage and management of SMD components, also contribute to this.

The number of employees is growing steadily, with more than 80 people now working for SCHNEIDER Elektronik.

The SCHAKO Group is also growing with the acquisition of ADMECO, the Group can expand its competences and the product portfolio in ventilation technology for buildings and now also offers complete solutions in the hospital sector.

2019

SCHNEIDER Elektronik continuously grows, the production and office areas are enlarged by a further 1,200 m² extension building next to the existing production building.

Since December 2019, the company has been DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 certified and has thus successfully met the high requirements of the most widely used quality management system. With the successful audit, SCHNEIDER Elektronik proves that the high-quality demands of customers and business partners are met permanently and sustainably. SCHAKO Ferdinand Schad KG becomes the owner of SCHNEIDER Elektronik GmbH.

2017 to 2018

The development of the iCM500 fume cupboard controller with fully graphic colour display and Modbus connection takes place.

To present all companies of the SCHAKO Group under one brand, a comprehensive corporate identity changeover takes place. Now the companies of the group appear with a uniform appearance.

2016

REVEN, specialised in air purification in commercial kitchens and industry, joins the SCHAKO Group and is now also part of one of the leading European groups in ventilation and air-conditioning technology.

2015

SCHNEIDER Elektronik presents the development of the room management controller RMCTouch with a touch-display user interface.

And the successful cooperation with SCHAKO is deepened, the companies move closer together, as SCHAKO Ferdinand Schad KG becomes majority shareholder in SCHNEIDER Elektronik GmbH.

2013 to 2015

The development of an own BACnet stack and the product series 700 with integrated Modbus and BACnet connection takes place, as well as an introduction of the network connection via Ethernet.

In 2014, the SCHAKO Group continues to grow: Novenco Building & Industry (supplier for energy-efficient ventilation in the process industry, tunnel construction and car parks) and Sirocco (as a company active in the field of industrial ventilation technology, heat transfer as well as tunnel ventilation and fire gas smoke extraction) supplement the previous portfolio relating to ventilation technology for buildings.

2013

The product portfolio grows, the room control unit RMC700 and a laboratory visualisation are developed.

2012

SCHAKO Ferdinand Schad KG from Kolbingen becomes a minority shareholder. This participation lays the foundation for a successful cooperation.

All companies belonging to today’s SCHAKO Group are reliable and competent partners when it comes to components and systems in ventilation and air-conditioning technology. The SCHAKO Group is one of the leading European corporate groups in ventilation and air-conditioning technology.

The number of employees exceeds the 50 mark for the first time.

2011

Two more floors are added to the production building. The production area expands, and the software/hardware development staff move into their own floor.

The foundation stone for the company’s own development department was laid in the 1990s and has been continuously expanded. Even today, around 10 % of the turnover flows into the in-house research and development of the products.

2010

A fume cupboard control system and an air volume controller with BACnet network connection are developed and successfully used in the first projects.

2009

The interest of the Chinese market in SCHNEIDER Elektronik products is growing. A successful partnership with Schneider Controls in Shanghai facilitates access to the Asian sales region.

2007

The company moves once again to its current location in Steinbach (Taunus). This doubles the office and production space, as the company continues to grow. By now, more than 30 colleagues work for the company.

SCHNEIDER Elektronik presents itself for the first time at the ACHEMASIA trade fair in Beijing/China.

2004 to 2006

The fume cupboard monitors FM100 and FM500, as well as the fume cupboard control FC500 and the automatic sash closer system SC500 are re-designed.

The first products with BMS connection via the LON protocol, such as the VAV300 air volume controller and the LMR300 fume cupboard controller, are developed by SCHNEIDER Elektronik and successfully used in various projects in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries.

2001

SCHNEIDER Elektronik offers young and interested school leavers, in addition to the commercial training, also the electrotechnical training branch.

2000

The company participates for the first time as an exhibitor at the world’s largest trade fair in the chemical sector, the ACHEMA in Frankfurt. A completely revised product line is exhibited and presented.

The entry into laboratory ventilation technology begins with the development and sale of the 1st fume cupboard monitoring system LMS and the fume cupboard control system LMR.

Currently, 15 employees work for SCHNEIDER Elektronik.

The first SMD pick-and-place machine is purchased and electronics development and production are established.

In the beginning SMD pick-and-place machine was used purely for contract manufacturing. In the following years, the focus shifted more and more to the manufacture of the company’s own products, which today account for over 90 % of production.

1980’s

The company changes its legal form to a limited liability company (GmbH).

The company moves from the Frankfurt district of Heddernheim to Rosbach-Rodheim vor der Höhe in into a newly constructed production and office building.

Since 1988, SCHNEIDER Elektronik has offered the opportunity to complete a commercial apprenticeship.

1970’s

The company took over the production of adhesive strip encoders, which were further developed over the years and are still manufactured today.

1960’s

Electronic stapler circuits were developed and manufactured for the Novus company. The devices are still manufactured by SCHNEIDER Elektronik today.

1950’s

After the departure of his partner, the basis of today’s Hans SCHNEIDER Elektronik company was established in 1956 in Heddernheim, a district of Frankfurt am Main.

One of the first products developed and patented by the then 30-year-old Hans Schneider is the electronic control for a paper cutting machine. With this, a programme can be run with the help of a tape.

Through his contacts with this branch of industry, the company Schneider Senator in Lübeck developed light barriers for paper cutting machines.

1940’s

After the end of the Second World War, Hans Schneider and a partner found the company Hess und Schneider Sound technique, the forerunner of Hans SCHNEIDER Elektronik. The company produces and rents out loudspeaker systems.

These were popular with representatives of many political parties for their rallies, which were often held on the Römerberg in Frankfurt, which was still in ruins at the time.
